[06-Oct-09] — 2009 CCCA National Cat Show - Last Update

Dear Cat Lovers

This is the last email update from the 2009 CCCA National Cat Show website. The site will remain up and I have recently added more photos and links to some big photo galleries on the photos page.

http://ccca2009.breedsite.com/photos/

The 2010 National Show website is now online and this show promises to be HUGE!! It is being held in conjunction with the World Cat Congress so Australia will be on show to the world. I will be converting the 2009 subscribers over to the 2010 update list. If you would not like to be subscribed to the 2010 update list please use the unsubscribe link below now so that your email address is not added to the new list.

I would like to thank everyone who helped with the 2009 show as well as all the exhibitors and their cats. I would also like to thank the people who could not make it to WA but who still showed their support for the show.

Hope to see you in Melbourne!

[20-Jul-09] — 2009 CCCA National Cat Show - Not long now!

Hi Everyone

The show is next weekend so here are a few last minute details to make sure things run smoothly.

Show Timetable

Day One
7.00-8.30 - Vetting
9.00 - Judging commences
10.00 – 4.00 - Show open to public
4.00 – Judging finishes
7.30pm – Show dinner

Day Two
7.30-8.30 - Vetting
9.00 - Judging Commences
10.00 – 4.00 - Show open to public
4.00 – 5.00 Judging finishes, presentation of Supreme in Rings and Overall Supreme

Vetting

Vetting on day one is in-line vetting. We have a lot of cats to get through in a short amount of time so we have several vets and final year vet students from Murdoch University to help us get through it as quickly as possible. When you arrive collect your exhibitor packet with your vetting slips and have your kittens vaccination cards ready. If you sent a copy with your entry you still need to have a copy to show the vets. Please make sure you arrive early. 8.30 is the vetting finish time not the latest you can arrive at the show with your cats.
Once judging commences late comers will not be able to put their cats in the show.

Absentees

When you arrive for vetting please make sure you inform us of any absent cats as we need to provide a list to every judge before judging begins.

Food

Helen and her catering team will be selling breakfast both days from our show kitchen. Lunch and snacks will be available from the centre kiosk during the day. There are fast food restuarants further down Hale Road and a shopping centre which is open on the Saturday. There is also a lunch bar at the caravan park across from the venue which is walking distance.

Show Dinner

It is not too late to join us for the show dinner. We have lots of exhibitors and judges coming but there is room for a few more. The meal is buffet style and we will have a great raffle plus our key note speaker Dr Norris will be discussing advancements in the use of DNA in cats. Please contact Carole Galli, admin@roellencattery.com.au if you would like to join us.

Stalls & Raffles

We have a lot of great stall holders coming to the show selling everything from cats beds to cat portraits, T-shirts, odour products and more. There will also be a huge raffle, guess the lollies in the jar and promotional products to purchase. Please bring cash & loose change as the nearest ATM is at the shopping centre. Small notes are a good idea.

Show Seminar

Dont miss out on a wonderful opourtunity to hear Dr Norris speak about her reasearch into FIP. Dr Norris was reccently awarded a $12,240 USD grant for her study "Determining genetic correlates of FIP susceptibility". FIP affects us all and the more we know about the disease the better we can protect our cats and kittens.
If you would like to attend please contact Carole Galli, admin@roellencattery.com.au, who has generously sponsored Dr Norris's visit

From the study
Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a fatal disease of cats involving variants of feline coronavirus, commonly called feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV). The disease tends to be sporadic and is more common in certain pedigreed cats and in cats from multi- cat environments. This study uses molecular biology methods to examine areas of variability in the cat genetic code that may be associated with susceptibility to FIP. In particular, the study will compare genes from cats with FIP to those of older breed-matched cats that have not developed FIP. The genes selected for examination are known to be involved in coronavirus attachment to cells or to form part of the immune response against the virus. The genes have been selected based upon examination of the complete sequence of the feline genome for areas that are likely to be variable between individual cats. In this manner, the investigators can look for genetic differences between cats that develop FIP and those that are resistant. This information will improve understanding of FIP and may provide genetic tests that will assist breeders in avoiding the use of cats with susceptibility to FIP for breeding. See you at the show!

We are very close to finalising classes and sending confirmations through. If you have any late changes or now have any details that were pending at the time of entry can you send them through to me at cuddleton@optiic.com (please note two i's in optiic).

Also if you requested a business card advert but didn't send the card please pop it in the post or email me the artwork for the catalogue.

Best wishes

Pamela - Show Secretary

[15-Jun-09] — 2009 CCCofA National Show - Urgent Message

Hi Everyone

This is a quick note to anyone that has replied to an update email. The email is generated via the website and the address is not valid as an email address. It should have bounced back with a message saying it was invalid but this may not be the case depending on the type of email you use.

If you have hit the reply button and sent a message without a response please resend it directly to me at cuddleton@optiic.com and I will assist you straight away.

Thank you for your patience

Pamela

[12-Jun-09] — 2009 CCCofA National Show - Entries Closing

Hi Everyone

Just letting you know the CCCofA National Show closing for entries is today. I am sure everyone who is coming has popped them in the post already (especially judging by the full post office box I had yesterday!)

Just in case you havent the schedule can be found here
http://www.ccca2009.breedsite.com/schedule/

To the interstate people we will be sending you the voucher to show to AAE when you fly so that you can get the three cats at $50 per cat.

We will also be sending everyone who has provided an email address a confirmation to check your entries details. Just give us a little bit of time to complete the entry processing.

[03-Jun-09] — 2009 CCCofA National Show Update

Hi Everyone

Here is an update for you on what is happening with the show.

The most important thing you need to know is that our show manager has had her baby! Beautiful boy Emrys has arrived and was 8kg. Kirsty said it wouldn't take long and she was right, forty five minutes from start to finish. She doesn't mess around and was on the phone checking judges arrangements a few hours later. Congratulations to Kirsty, Ross and Gabrielle.

If you have not been back to the website since the schedule first went up we need to let you know that CFA judge Wayne Trevathan has unfortunately had to pull out due to personal commitments. The good news is that Donna Fuller from CFA has stepped in and will now be joining us to judge in Wayne's place. There is an updated version of the schedule on the website.

Accommodation has been filling fast and everyone has done a great job of completing the agreement and paying deposits. There are a few spots left so if you are still thinking about coming over there is accommodation available. We have been asked about the standard of the hotels as the pictures on websites look a bit dowdy. Several members of the committee have visited both sites. Whilst they are not the most stylish of suites they are very serviceable and about the same standard as we have stayed in when visiting other states for shows. The big plus is location as they are very close to the airport, the dinner location and the show itself is a short drive away.

The closing date for the show is looming and we would like to give you a gentle reminder to post your entries ASAP.

June 12th is the last day for entries.

As per rule 2, "All applications for entry for the CCCofA National Show must be accompanied by a copy of the exhibit's registration certificate and, if not included on the registration certificate, a pedigree showing all breeds and colours and which shows the exhibit plus three generations as a minimum." Note that the pedigree that accompanies a certificate does not have to be certified.

Rosette sponsorship is still needed so please consider including a section with your entry. Corporate sponsorship is welcome so you can put your business name down and make it a business expense if you like.

Our list of helpers could do with a few more names. We especially need experienced stewards and judges scribes. Everyone gets an apron to wear and take home and the more people we have to help the better we can spread the work around.

Don't forget the seminar is on Monday and yes, you can come along even if you have not entered the show. We don't get opportunities like this very often in WA and the information provided is going to be invaluable for breeders and cat lovers alike.

One last thing, if you have any queries please contact myself or Kirsty directly. My email is cuddleton@optiic.com and Kirsty is on mewsingsragdolls@yahoo.com.

Best wishes

Pamela Lanigan
Show Secretary

[08-May-09] — 2009 CCCofA National Show Update

Hi Everyone

Just a note to let people who are travelling to Perth know the accommodation we have secured is booking fast. The number of apartments left is only two x 2 bedrooms at Angelo Apartments, two x 3 bedrooms and three x 2 bedrooms at Glenvale Lodge.

We have also had a few questions come up since the schedule was released so we thought we would update everyone at the same time..

  • The address to post the entry to is in the contact section of the schedule but just to be clear it is Show Secretary - Pamela Lanigan, PO Box 7047, Applecross North 6153
  • Out of respect for the family members of our show officials please don't call after 8.30pm at night. Also WA is two hours behind other states so please consider this when calling in the morning too.
  • If you are not able to download or print the schedule please email Pamela at cuddleton@optiic.com with your name and address and she will post a copy to you.
  • As noted on the schedule "Entries will only be accepted for cats registered with an association affiliated with a body recognised by CCCofA. This does not include Warratah at this time." This is a CCCA show and this is the position of CCCA at this time.
  • We have made arrangements with AAE for travellers to bring three cats to and from Perth at $50 per cat when they are travelling with you. More information is available on the information page of the website under the heading "Travelling to Perth by Plane" but please note that Jetstar does not accept any pets for travel.
